(Nanuet, NY/77WABC)-On the 6th Birthday of the son of fallen Firefighter, Jared Lloyd, fighters staged an incredible drive by on the sixth birthday of Lloyd’s son. Lloyd was killed Tuesday when the third floor of the Evergreen Court Nursing Home in Spring Valley, NY collapsed as he attempted to rescue residents from the long-term care facility. One resident also perished in the fire.
Loyd was a 2nd Lt. with Columbians Fire Engine Co. No. 1 aboard Engine 17 which responded to the fire.
He was one of the first to enter the facility to rescue residents according to the Rockland County Fire Co-ordinator Chris Kear.

The facility was completely destroyed in the massive blaze. Over 125 firefighters from 23 departments were called to the scene after the fire broke out shortly before 1 am. 112 residents who made it out safely were relocated to other facilities.
More than $447,000 has been raised in a GoFuneMe Campaign for Lloyd’s two young children, Darius, 5, and Logan, now 6.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
