(Bronx, NY/77WABC)-A Bronx man is under arrest in connection with the attempted kidnapping of an 8-year-old child within the NYC transit system. The NYPD says 36-year-old Luis Toledo, of 2433 Valentine Avenue, Apt. 3N in the Bronx was arrested Thursday night without incident. Police say Toledo faces charges of Attempted Kidnapping, Acting in a Manner Injurious to a Child, and Unlawful Imprisonment.
Officers from the 40th Precinct arrest Toledo without incident on Tuesday evening in connection with an incident at the Fordham Road Subway Station on the evening of Tuesday, March 16th, 2021, at approximately 9:17 pm.
A 35-year-old mother was walking down a flight of stairs while holding the hand of her 8-year-old son. Toledo allegedly attempted to grab the boy from her as she fought back. Her screams were heard by a small crowd of people on the Southbound D platform who came to her aide as the suspect fled the station.
The mother and her son were unhurt.
It is not known if Toledo has retained counsel.
