(New York, NY/77WABC)-After a yearlong hiatus due to the Coronavirus pandemic, fans will be allowed to attend MLB games at Citi Field and Yankee Stadium beginning April 1 at 20% of capacity. If you do the math, that means 10,850 fans will be allowed at Yankee Stadium on Opening Day on April 1 and 8,492 fans will be allowed at Citi Field for the Mets home opener on April 8th.
Citing declining Covid-19 rates and increasing vaccinations, NY Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced a new slate of reopenings Thursday as he declared, “Let’s get back to life and living. It is safe.”

Attendees will be required to show proof of a negative Covid-19 test or vaccination.
The NY Yankees host the Toronto Blue Jays on April 1.

For the 2021 season, Major League Baseball has planned a full 162-game season. No fans were allowed during the 2020 shortened season due to the viral pandemic.
Cuomo also said NY State will reevaluate the proof of negative COVID tests and vaccinations for venues in mid-May.
