DESCRIPTION:
Red Apple Media is seeking a high-energy, passionate journalist who can write accurately and meet deadlines. This candidate must have strong news judgement and be in tune with breaking news as well as all major local, national, and international developing stories. This position also involves on-air news anchoring.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Gathering, writing, recording, editing and delivering news content when breaking news occurs
• Writing news articles for website and social media in a timely fashion
• Develop and research potential news stories
• Fill-In Anchor approximately one minute newscasts live at the top of the hour
• Ad-lib live breaking news stories under tight deadlines
• Produce and record segments
• Making phone calls, set up interviews
• This position may involve early morning hours, weekends, and holidays
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum of 2+ years writing, anchoring, reporting news radio, print or TV
• Must be computer literate and have excellent writing skills
• Position requires proficiency in audio editing and packaging news sound and interviews
• Position requires contemporary sound and excellent on-air delivery
• Knowledge of the broadcast area and station demographics is essential
• 4 year degree in journalism preferred
• Ability to work weekends and overnights
