The New York Times stated that Moderna has started its trial of COVID-19 vaccines in children from 6-months-old to 12-years-old.
The children in the study will receive two shots in total with the two shots being spaced 28 days apart. The study would consist of two parts where one group would receive doses ranging from 25-100 micrograms while the second group would receive placebo shots or doses selected by the study.
Participants in the trial would be followed for one year to monitor their side effects and antibody levels. Those who take the vaccine may experience side effects such as fever, fatigue, body aches, and sore arms.
