An Attempted Bank Robbery; Suspect Flees Empty Handed

(Hauppauge, NY/77WABC)-Suffolk County police say a male suspect is at large after attempting to rob a Bank of America, 190 Motor Parkway, Suite 100, in Hauppauge at approximately 3:05 pm Tuesday.

Investigators say the suspect handed a teller a note demanding cash. The man fled the bank on foot without any proceeds. 

The suspect was described as a white male, in his early 20’s, between approximately 6 feet 1 inch and 6 feet 2 inches tall, medium build, blonde hair, blue eyes, and a light complexion. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, backpack, black pants, black sneakers, and a white and black bandana covering his mouth.

 The incident is under investigation by the Suffolk County Police Major Case Unit.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on this attempted robbery to call the Major Case Unit at 631-852-6555 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
