(Brooklyn, NY)-One person is under arrest in the murder of a good samaritan who was stabbed to death as he attempted to intervene Friday night during an attack outside of an illegal gambling establishment in the vicinity of 57 Street and 7 Avenue, within the confines of the 72 Precinct in Brooklyn, NY. However, police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the person seen in the attached video in connection with the incident.
The good samaritan, 46-year-old Yong Zheng of Bowery St. Manhattan, died after attempting to intervene when he came upon the attack after attending the Lantern Festival.
45-year-old William Smith of 486 Marion St. in Brooklyn, NY was taken into custody Sunday, Feb. 28th, 2021 in connection with the attack. Police say he is charged with murder, robbery, and three counts of assault.
Three others were injured in the attack believed related to an unpaid gambling debt. A 39-year-old male and a 42-year-old male, sustained non-life-threatening injuries were hospitalized in stable condition following the attack. Police say a fourth victim, a 49-year-old male, sustained a puncture wound to his body and was treated at the scene.
