The number of nursing home residents in New York who died with COVID-19 was undercounted and kept hidden from the public for some time.
The New York Times states, “after the state attorney general revealed earlier this year that thousands of deaths of nursing home residents had been undercounted, Mr. Cuomo finally released the complete data, saying he had withheld it out of concern that the Trump administration might pursue a politically motivated inquiry into the state’s handling of the outbreak in nursing homes.”
Cuomo is under fire for his handling of nursing homes in the pandemic and the accusations of sexual harassment that have come about.
Cuomo has made it clear that he will not resign.
