(New York, NY)-The NYPD has released a photo and a video in connection with a hate crime against an Asian American hoping the public can help identify the suspect in connection with the attack.
NYC has experienced an uptick in Asian Hate Crimes due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Â In the latest incident on Tuesday, March 2nd, 2021, at approximately 8:50 pm, the suspect attacked a 56-year-old Asian male victim by punching him in the face, rendering him unconscious, as he was entering the East Broadway and Rutgers Street “F” train subway station in lower Manhattan. EMS responded and transported the victim to an area hospital for treatment of a laceration to his lip, a black eye, and swelling to his head.
The NYPD has formed an Asian Hate Crimes Task Force consisting of a total of 25 officers assigned to investigate the uptick in attacks against Asian Americans in NYC.
An investigation is ongoing.
