Do you think New York should fully reopen?
NEW YORK (77WABC) – The Washington Post reported on March 4 that Texas and Mississippi have fully reopened and are lifting the mask mandate within their state.
Some medical professionals are concerned that it may be too soon to make this call as there are emerging coronavirus variants and cases are on the rise.
The CDC tweeted out on Wednesday:
Cases of #COVID19 are on the rise.
As of March 1, the 7-day moving average of new cases is 66,010, a 3.5% increase from the previous week. Now is not the time to relax prevention measures. Wear a well-fitting mask. Stay 6 feet apart. Avoid crowds. More: https://t.co/YT7LKi6sF2. pic.twitter.com/5fjf0h0G9e

The CDC is urging all to continue to be cautious in order to slow the spread as cases of COVID-19 increase.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott posted the following on Twitter.
I just announced Texas is OPEN 100%.
EVERYTHING.
I also ended the statewide mask mandate.

Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves tweeted out on Tuesday that “it is time” for the state’s reopening.
Starting tomorrow, we are lifting all of our county mask mandates and businesses will be able to operate at full capacity without any state-imposed rules. Our hospitalizations and case numbers have plummeted, and the vaccine is being rapidly distributed. It is time!
