Jeffrey Epstein’s UES Mansion to Sell for $38 Million Under The Asking Price: WSJ Report

(New York/77WABC)-According to The Wall Street Journal, a Manhattan Mansion belonging to the late sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein, is under contract to sell for $50 million dollars. The original asking price was reported to be $88 million dollars.

The property, on 71st St.,  is the most expensive one owned by the late convicted sex offender whose portfolio includes residences in Paris, New Mexico, and Florida.

The Neoclassical Upper East Side townhouse dates to the 1930s. Former Macy’s heir, Herbert N. Straus, had the property commissioned the 28,000 square foot property.

The WSJ says Mr. Epstein paid $20 million for the UES property in 1998.

In 2008 Epstein pleaded guilty and was convicted by a Florida state court of procuring a child for prostitution and of soliciting a prostitute.  He served almost 13 months in custody with a controversial work release agreement.

He was re-arrested on July 6, 2019, on federal charges for sex trafficking of minors in Florida and New York. Epstein was found dead on August 10, 2019, inside his jail cell at The Metropolitan Correctional Facility in New York, NY. The medical examiner ruled the death a suicide. Attorney’s for Epstein has disputed the cause of death.

A compensation fund has been established for Epsteins’ alleged victims.  Proceeds of the sale are expected to go to the compensation fund to adjudicate claims from his alleged victims.
