NY: COVID-19 Vaccination Site Opens At Javits Center
(Albany, NY/77WABC)-For the first time in almost one year since the Covid-19 viral pandemic began, NY State beginning today is allowing family and friends to visit loved ones in long-term care facilities throughout the entire state.
The state has issued a series of strict guidelines to be followed as outlined on the NY State’s Dept. of Health website.Â
Among the rules, a nursing home can allow visitors only if the facility has been COVID-free for 14 days. Also, the facility must not be currently conducting outbreak testing, in accordance with federal guidelines. Rapid testing for visitors is recommended by NY State, but not mandatory unless the infection rate in the respective county is between five and ten percent.
The state says if anyone in the nursing home is diagnosed with Coronavirus visitation will cease temporarily for 14 days.
According to the guidelines, facilities are advised to limit the number of persons visiting a resident at one time and to limit overall visitation numbers to a facility at a given time based on the size of the respective facility.
