In New York, the pandemic has closed Broadway, restaurants, emptied office buildings, halted tourism, and as many as a third of the city’s small businesses may not re-open.
The situation has driven the city’s jobless rate to more than 12% – almost double the national average.
In response, New York leaders are planning to increase taxes on an already over taxed population. Meantime crime is escalating across New York City especially on the subways despite a 70% decrease in ridership.
As a result many in the tri-state area are leaving for sunnier places down south like Florida and South Carolina.
