(Bronx, NY/77WABC)-A suspect faces numerous charges after allegedly dragging an NYPD officer with his vehicle as the suspect attempted to flee a traffic stop at 167th St. and Watson Ave. in the Bronx last night around 6:30 pm.
Police say the officer opened fire as the suspect, 26-year-old Luis Cabrera, fled with the officer’s hand was caught in Cabrera’s Dodge Charger. Bullets struck the vehicle.

The officer suffered a cut wrist and was taken to Bronx Healthcare System to be treated for a minor injury.
Police recovered the officer’s gunbelt from the scene of the traffic stop.
Officers searched throughout the night locating the Dodge Charger in the vicinity of Jessup Ave.
Police say Cabrera was found on nearby Fordham Rd.
He is charged with attempted assault on a police officer, reckless endangerment, and vehicular assault.
