(Staten Island, NY/77WABC)-A person turned himself into police this morning although the individual has not been confirmed as the driver wanted in connection with a fatal hit and run last night at Lamberts Lane and Elson Street on Staten Island. The crash left a 68-year-old Staten Island woman dead and her 70-year-old husband in critical condition.
Police say at approximately 6:19 PM, a 2020 Honda Accord, traveling northbound on Elson Street, T-boned a 2009 Mercedes Benz traveling eastbound on Lamberts Lane. The unknown operator of the Honda Accord fled the scene on foot.

EMS also responded to the location and transported the occupants of the Mercedes Benz to Richmond University Medical Center.
The 70-year-old male, who was the operator of the Mercedes, is currently listed in critical condition with head trauma. His wife, Kauser Akhund of 150 Dawson Circle, was pronounced dead at Richmond University Medical Center.
The NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad is investigating the incident.
