NY: New York during the COVID-19 pandemic
(New York, NY/77WABC)-Overnight hours throughout the MTA’s NYC Subway system are being expanded. Beginning Monday, Feb. 22nd, 2021, subways will no longer shutter from 1 am to 5 am for disinfection. Instead, Interim Pres. Sara Feinberg announced Monday, subways will shutter from 2 am to 4 am for cleaning. She says disenfection and cleaning is done 24/7.
The 1 to 5 am closure was announced last May due to the Coronavirus Pandemic.
The change comes as NY State is now allowing NYC restaurants to remain open until 11 pm instead of 10 pm as indoor dining resume Feb. 12th at 25% capacity.
The change in hours has been approved by NY State. NY Governor Cuomo’s office announced the change in a press release:
