(New York, NY/77WABC)-Police say a man whose last address was a homeless shelter in Brooklyn is under arrest in connection with four subway attacks, two fatal,  in NYC’s Subway System Friday into Saturday.

21-year-old Rigoberto Lopez was taken into custody Sat. night. Officers took Lopez into custody at Audonbon Ave. and W. 196th St. after spotting Lopez with bloodied clothing.  The suspect was formally arrested Sunday, Feb. 14th on two counts of murder and attempted murder

Dep. Chief Brian McGee said the man has a criminal past of assault on a police officer. Lopez has been hospitalized for mental illness issues in the past.

One of the stabbing victims was discovered dead on a train in Queens late Friday with several wounds to his neck and torso. A 44-year-old woman was later found stabbed to death in a subway car in  Upper Manhattan.

The other two attacks, nonfatal, occurred in Upper  Manhattan.
