Wintry Weather – Mayor NYC
NEW YORK (77 WABC) – Kathryn Garcia has submitted her resignation as New York City’s sanitation commissioner. There is a speculation that she is announcing a run for mayor, which may be the reason for her departure.
Garcia started as an intern in New York City’s Department of Sanitation and worked her way up to commissioner of the department in 2014. Garcia is also head of New York’s emergency food program, which has delivered 100 million free meals during the coronavirus pandemic.
Garcia’s last day as sanitation commissoner will be September 18th.
