Ohio Governor DeWine tests positive for coronavirus before planning to meet Trump

NEW YORK (77 WABC) — Ohio Governor Mike DeWine has tested positive for the coronavirus. The Republican made the announcement shortly before he was scheduled to meet President Trump in Cleveland.

A statement posted to his Twitter account said the governor has “no symptoms at the present time.”

He was returning to Columbus, where would test the COVID-19 test again, along with the wife Fran DeWine, who also is not experiencing any symptoms.

DeWine was going to welcome Trump on the tarmac at Burke Lakefront Airport.

Upon landing in Ohio, Trump offered well wishes for DeWine and said “he’ll be fine.”

Last week, Rep. Louie Gohmert, was due to board Air Force One with Trump when the COVID-19 result came back positive. Gohmert has stood in opposition to wearing a mask.
