NEW YORK (77 WABC) — New jobless claims is still a stubborn 1.3 million as the pandemic continues to upend the economy.
It’s the 15th straight week that initial claims top 1 million.
But there is some good news.
The weekly unemployment claims were slightly lower than analysts estimates, CNBC said.
Continuing claims dropped by 700,000 during the previous week to 18.06 million.
Those who filed under the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance program totaled 1.039 million, that’s a jump more than 40,000 from the previous week.
Overall, the amount of the people using the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance hit a record 32.9 million.
