NEW YORK (77 WABC) — Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant has purchased a minority stake in the Philadelphia Union of Major League Soccer, Sports Business Journal reported on Thursday.

The deal is for between a one percent and a five percent stake of the Union, according to SBJ. It’s unclear if the purchase was a personal one for Durant or through Thirty Five Ventures, a company he founded along with business partner Rich Kleiman.

Durant tried to buy a stake in D.C. United twice, according to an October report from The Athletic, and visited the offices of the Union in December.

Durant joins several other NBA stars who have ownership stakes in soccer clubs. James Harding holds joined the ownership group of the MLS’s Houston Dynamo, NWSL’s Houston Dash and BBVA Compass Stadium. LeBron James bought an ownership stake in the English Premier League’s Liverpool F.C. in 2011.
