NEW YORK (77 WABC) — President Trump toured a Ford plant in Michigan that’s being used to produce personal protective equipment. Trump, who has been criticized for failing to wear a mask, took questions from the media without a face covering. Ford executives stood in the background with masks on.
Trump said he wore one with googles while being shown a back room, “but I didn’t want to give the press the pleasure of seeing it.”
Asked why he wouldn’t keep on the mask when meeting with the media, “[It’s] not necessary. Everybody’s been tested and I’ve been tested. In fact, I was tested this morning, so it’s not necessary.”
A reporter noted the Ford executives displaying their masks.
“Well, that’s their choice,” Trump said.
The president said Ford gave him a choice where he could wear the mask and picked “an area where they preferred it.”
