NEW YORK (77 WABC) — John Huddy, former Fox reporter (and brother of our own Juliet Huddy), is dealing with the coronavirus from the perspective of President Trump’s temporary immigration ban.
Huddy now lives in Florida with his Israeli wife of three years and their young daughter. Huddy’s wife returned home to her critically ill father as Trump signed the executive order. It caused confusion for the Huddy family.
Ultimately, he believes she can return to the U.S. with her daughter, who is a naturalized citizen. While it appears exemptions will permit the spouse of a citizen, “anything can happen,” Huddy said. “If the pandemic worsens, the president could shut everything down. He could close the borders.”
Huddy blames Trump for not properly communicating the information.
“The president puts out these tweets that really raise more questions than answers and just, overall, add to the fear and anxiety,” Huddy said.
A portion of our recent interview is above and with the full audio on my Inside the Newsroom podcast.
Huddy said he’d go to Israel right now, “if I could, but it’s almost impossible.”
