NEW YORK (77 WABC) – As New Jersey hits 41,090 confirmed cases of COVID-19, their first field hospital opened today at the Meadowlands Exposition Center.
The facility can accommodate 250 non-COVID patients in order to free up beds at local hospitals.
Getting a look inside the Field Hospital being set-up in the #Meadowlands Expo Center. Should be taking its first patients by mid-week, next week. Thanks to @GovMurphy's office for sending these photos. @News12NJ pic.twitter.com/laCsPvfS5g

The field hospital is meant for non-COVID-19 patients, but the state’s health secretary said that can change as New Jersey prepares for the apex in the coming weeks.
An additional field hospital will open at Edison this week, and a facility at Atlantic City is expected to open next week.
