TALKRADIO 77 WABCs Holiday Radiothon for the Kids at Cohen Childrens Medical Center
PATIENT NAME: Maverick Saatchi
PATIENT AGE: 5
PATIENT DIAGNOSIS: TRACHEOESOPHAGEAL FISTULA
- Maverick was not growing at a normal rate in utero and the doctors did not see a stomach bubble, possible TE fistula. TE fistula is an abnormal connection in one or more places between the esophagus and the trachea.
- Maverick was born 9 weeks early and had his first of 12 surgeries at one day old.
- His parents were scared of what would happen to their son but the NICU made it better; held their hand on tough days and celebrated milestones.
- Although Maverick has had surgeries over the past 5 years he has flourished into the amazing boy, who attends Kindergarten and is very bright. He loves karate, dance, ice hockey and skiing!
LISTEN TO BERNARD MCGUIRK AND SID ROSENBERG SPEAK WITH MAVERICK’S MOTHER, NIKKI SAATCHI, ABOUT THE DIAGNOSIS AND CARE FROM COHEN’S CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL.
