It was two years ago at the New York City marathon when Allie Kieffer made her statement on the professional scene with an unexpected fifth place finish.  Her time of 2:29:39 was a 15-minute personal best, a time which she improved just one year later, running 2:28:12 in 2018.

Since last years race in NYC, Kieffer has suffered some setbacks, including a recent hamstring injury that has her questioning her ability to get through all 26.2 miles through the five boroughs on Sunday.

However shes not letting the setbacks get in the way of her future goals, especially with the focus shifting to the 2020 Olympic Trials after Sunday.  She discusses the importance of being smarter in training, and not necessarily just expecting “more” to make her better.

Kieffer will be starting with the professional women on Sunday at 9:10am.
