New York (77 WABC) – Rumors have been swirling as to whether or not the New York Mets will trade starting pitchers Noah Syndergaard or Zack Wheeler before Wednesday’s MLB trade deadline. On Sunday night they made a big splash by acquiring a different starting pitcher.
The Mets reached a deal with the Toronto Blue Jays to bring starting pitcher Marcus Stroman over to Queens. Stroman, a Long Island native who graduated from Patchogue-Medford High, had six wins with a 2.96 ERA for the Blue Jays in 21 games this season. The 28-year old right hander is signed through the 2020 season.
