NEW YORK (77 WABC) – As former Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz recovers in a Boston Hospital, the suspected gunman was arrested on Wednesday in the Dominican Republic. Officials report that Ramon Martinez Perez who goes by the name Rolfie has been detained and is being questioned by authorities. Another man, Eddy Vladimir Feliz Garcia was arrested at the Santo Domingo’s Dial Bar and Lounge and charged as an accomplice to the shooting. Security camera footage from the area around the scene shows the two men together prior to the shooting. Officials have also said that both Perez and Garcia were part of a larger group that was offered 400,000 Dominican Pesos which is about equal to $8,000 in US Dollars to carry out the shooting. Ortiz who is a native of the Dominican republic had his gallbladder and part of his intestine removed by surgeons in the DR. Ortiz was then flown back to the US where he is currently being treated at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
