When John and Margo Catsimatidis put on a gala, everybody wants to be there. Next Friday, the Celebration for America’s 250th Birthday and 77WABC’s 104th Anniversary takes place next Friday at Cipriani’s 42nd St., and you’ll be amazed at who’s attending. We have RSVP’s from Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, Uncle Sam, and even the Statue of Liberty (not kidding!).
The evening features performances by:
- Tony Orlando, 70s superstar and 77WABC host, who will perform Tie A Yellow Ribbon ’Round The Ole Oak Tree, a song of support for our military and first responders;
- Lee Greenwood, who will sing God Bless The USA, which many Americans consider the contemporary anthem for our country;
- Christopher Maccio, who has been dubbed America’s Tenor after he performed the national anthem at President Trump’s inauguration;
- Joe Piscopo, host of 77WABC’s Sundays with Sinatra, who will treat the audience to Ol’ Blue Eyes’ most unforgettable hits;
- and Vinnie Medugno, up-and-coming local musical sensation and 77WABC on air host, who will get the crowd on their feet with his powerful renditions of oldies tunes.
The gala event will be hosted by 77WABC legendary air personality Bruce “Cousin Brucie” Morrow, who helped define the station’s “Music Radio 77” brand in the ’60s.
The evening includes a silent auction for paintings by Scott LoBaido, the relentless patriot, and guitars autographed by the celebrities.
We’re not just having fun, we’re also doing good. The Catsimatidis family is well-known for their philanthropy, and proceeds from the gala will benefit The WABC Radio Foundation, The Tunnel To Towers Foundation, The Police Athletic League (PAL), and Shriners Children’s™.
