Huntington, NY (77WABC)-One person, who police say may have suffered some type of medical event, was killed in a multi-vehicle crash in Huntington Monday night.
Police say 50-year-old Mark Bernzweig of Huntington was pronounced dead at Huntington Hospital following the multi-vehicle crash which occurred around 5 pm.
Suffolk Police say Bernzweig was driving a 2004 Honda Accord westbound on Jericho Turnpike when he collided with a 2018 Lexus RX350 being driven by Denise O’Grady. She was attempting to make a left turn onto Jericho Turnpike from southbound Werner Road at the time of impact. Police say the Honda continued westbound on Jericho Turnpike where it struck a 2013 Nissan Rogue being driven by Ester Lopez-Dominguez, and a 2012 Nissan Versa being driven by Alexis Selmar. Both vehicles were stopped eastbound on Jericho Turnpike and waiting at a light at Warner Road.
The 23-year-old in the Nissan, Alexis Selmar of Huntington, was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore with non-life-threatening injuries. The two other drivers were not hurt.
Police say all of the vehicles involved were impounded for safety checks.
An investigation is ongoing.
